Jim O'Donoghue
entered the Pitched Roofing industry in 1981, with Cape Ireland, selling
Blue/Black Asbestos slates in competition with Blue/Black large format
concrete tiles. While these products perform the basic functions of
" keeping the weather out " and satisfy the low-cost end of the Market,
they fail to meet the Colour Durability and Long-life requirements of
a Quality roof.
Their shape and
size do not suit Traditional high-pitch roofs with Dormers, Bay windows
and Porches. In response to Customer requests, I pioneered the re-introduction
of Natural roofing in the mid 1980's, Blue Bangors in 1984, Eternit
Clay Plain Tiles in 1986 and Spanish Natural slates in 1988.
I formed Restoration
Building Products in 1991 to specialize in Natural slates and tiles
for roofing. Today, as a Company, we are still driven by the need to
inform people that Natural products are available, are Colour durable,
are Maintenance-free, are not really expensive on a cost-per-annum basis,
and can be used.
Why should a customer
be restricted to a roof which has short life, and goes from Blue/Black
to an ugly Grey colour within 10 years if he is willing to pay the price
for QUALITY.
